domain name Command in Linux


Command: domain name

Command Usage: show or set the system's NIS/YP domain name

Syntax: # domainname [options]

Examples:

1. To print short host name

    $ domainname -s

2. To print alias names of domainname

    $ domainame -a

3. To print addresses for the hostname

    $ domainname -i

4. To print all addresses for the host

    $ domainname -I

5. To print long host name (FQDN)

    $ domainname -f

6. To all long host names (FQDNs)

    $ domainname -A

7. To print DNS domainname

    $ domainname -d

8. To print NIS/YP domain name

    $ domainname -y

9. To set default hostname if none available

    $ domainname -b

10. To Read the host name from the specified file

    $ domainname -F

11. To print a usage message and exit

    $ domainname -h
